I love my cordless headset phone...

Because it means that when certain people (who shall remain nameless at 3girls.us!) phone me in the evening, I can hit pause on my FOTR DVD, and spend two and a half hours assembling a blanket.

And NO HEADACHE - whee!

The blanket currently looks something like this:
Wet blanket!

It's the blanket for the Camp Border Collie silent auction, and it is done.

While I'm pleased with the blanket overall (it's beautifully snuggly - a real pleasure to sit beneath on a chilly early spring evening), I'm not thrilled by the yarn. Lion Brand Homespun just isn't my cup of tea. My hands felt cornstarched/dusty when working with it, and the boucle made it hard to figure out which stitch was which.

The first issue is just my weird sense of touch, and the second one wasn't a problem for most of the blanket. For the most part, you get into a rhythm, and you know where to put the hook. It was just that on the odd moments (you know, the "what the heck have I done?" moments) when it was necessary to analyze things, this yarn defied easy analysis. Which, actually, could be a very good thing, since it would likely mask mistakes pretty well.

All the same, though, I doubt that I'll be using this yarn again. My stash is running rampant, and I think I'll be gathering stuff to donate to the senior center soon. Guaranteed that the Homespun leftovers will be in those bags!

For what I'm doing now... Wow. I see I haven't updated my pages in a while! I have a yellow and green blanket that is about 6 hours from completion (needs seaming and edging), and I have about a third of the squares needed for a two-tone blue blanket. I also have yarn for a blue/brown/green blanket and for a cream-and-black blanket.

Should keep me busy for a few weeks.

Homespun is not one of my favorites either. I like yarn that looks and feels like yarn.

Hear hear!
*raises her hook in a salute to hermgirl*

I have no problem with acrylic, but darn it, let me see the stitches!

Good God! Don't you have better things to do with your time than take pictures of your blankets in your washing machine?
