"randomness" is a pattern, isn't it?

I'm about 2/3 of the way through the squares for my next blanket, which doesn't yet have a pattern.

I've come up with a few possible designs, but none of them really thrill me.

So I'm toying with the idea of going random (putting all forty squares in a box, stirring them up, then grabbing each one without looking), or at least semi-random (putting two squares of each color in a box, stirring them and grabbing each one without looking).

The benefit of the first method is that it is almost truly random. (The yarns have a very slightly different feel, so that might skew my choices a bit.)

The benefit of the second method is that it avoids the chance that eight blocks of one color would be in one column.

Decisions, decisions.
