Pascal's Arch

I'm a member of Ravelry (free registration required), and I'm a member of some of the forums there. One is a competition/challenge group, and I've started to participate. It's interesting, because I've been creating things just for the sake of creating: a black and white cube in one piece, covers for earrings... just freehanding with no intent to write up the patterns. For the most part, that is.

This one insisted on being written up. (Yes, I take orders from projects, apparently. Should I be worried?)

I joined Ravelry. :-) It looks a fun place to be.

It can be!
It's a combination of inventory control and social networking.

You can look for patterns, and see who else has made them and what comments they have. You can look for a yarn and see what's been made with it. You can keep track of your projects, both finished and unfinished.

The social networking aspect is in the forums. There are the Big Six:
Techniques - "how do I...?"
Patterns - "looking for..." or "what does the designer mean...?"
Yarn - "what is this yarn good for?" - I love the blocking thread
Needlework on the Net - other discussion that's yarny but isn't really techniques, patterns or yarn
For the Love of Ravelry - help and announcements
Remnants - everything else, reminiscent of usenet in drama quotient (I tend to avoid this forum.)

Then there are other forums. Look for groups relating to your interests, and you'll probably find that there are forums of people discussing it. Some are more active than others.

If you have questions, let me know. I'll be glad to help if I can.

Re: It can be!
Thanks. I'll do that. It might give me something other than 'blankets' to do when I'm not targetting anything in particular. ;-)

I'd say you shouldn't be worried, but then I take orders from fictional characters, so who am I to say?
